Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar’s first directorial project Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released over 25 years ago. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, the movie became a cult classic. While netizens have been pointing out problematic scenes and dialogues in the movie on social media which even the filmmaker has agreed to. However, the fans like to revisit the movie time and again. Over the years, the cast of the film has revealed anecdotes from the film. Now, actress Raveena Tandon has opened up about being approached for Rani’s character in the movie.

During the promotion of her upcoming web series Karmaa Calling, Raveena revealed that Johar still holds her accountable for not agreeing to essay the role of Tina, which then later went to Rani Mukerji. Talking about the same with the Hindustan Times, she shared how she has tried to explain to him that she is ready to work with him on any other projects. She added how there was a Dharma project which didn’t happen. Pinkvilla quoted the 49-year-old actress saying, “Till date, Karan (Johar) holds me accountable for not doing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (Rani Mukerji’s part). In a previous interview with ANI, she had revealed behind giving up Tina’s part in the 1998 romantic-drama. Tandon had expressed that at the time she was Kajol’s contemporary. Since they had started in the Hindi film industry together and both doing lead roles, she “couldn’t have done a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where I was at a lower… where I probably had a smaller role like Rani”

On the work front, Raveena Tandon is awaiting the release of her new web show, Karmma Calling. Directed by Ruchi Narain, the actress portrays the character of Indrani Kothari, an affluent woman. The series will stream on Disney+Hostar from January 26.
